Description: A buffer overflow vulnerability was reported in Golden FTP Server. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can supply a specially crafted FTP USER field of more than 284 characters to trigger a buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code. The code will run with the privileges of the FTP service.

Impact: A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with the privileges of the FTP service.

Solution: The vendor has issued a fixed version. At the time of this entry, version 2.16 was the latest available version.
